I take this opportunity to invite you to kindly participate in a nationwide movement of NIF to make India innovative and global leader in sustainable technologies. As a part of the mission of NIF set up by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the chairpersonship of Dr. R A Mashelkar, we have documented thousands of herbal medicinal uses by traditional knowledge holding communities and individuals all over the country. Unless these knowledge claims are validated, we will neither be able to honour these traditional knowledge holders at the national and state level, nor will we be able to share any benefits with them which might arise from the potential commercialization of these claims with or without further value addition.

Register with us to participate in the ongoing R&D activities on Herbal Traditional Practices

Herbal Database:

National Innovation Foundation has so far documented more than thirty thousand of traditional knowledge based practices from 496 districts across the country. The information collected is scrutinized on the basis of their frequency of use by the community or individual across the country. On the basis of that, Practices which are not reported in any codified literature (including Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani) are processed for validation at laboratories of our research Collaborators (CSIR, ICMR and various University and College laboratories) in the form of short-term validation project. On the basis of the result, the practices are forwarded for value addition through full fledged projects. From the rest, very common and popular practices which are reported from almost every corner of the country are shared with the people through Public Knowledge Domains (PKD) for comments and valuable criticism from the people. The list below displays a few common practices of this category:
