Guidelines:
How to enter :
Step -1 : Understand the competition
Step -2 : Project allocation, confirmation
and plan development
- Submit a list of three innovation
on preference order taking into consider
the geographical proximity, skill
set and logistic requirement.
- On allocation, the team is required
to confirm within 10 days or the date
of closure of project allocation,
which ever is earlier.
- On confirmation, it is advisable
that you visit the innovators place
(read protocol),for
better understanding of the innovation.
- The diffusion plan should include
project deliverables, read sample
diffusion plan for better
understanding.
Step - 3 : Project submission
- Project may be electronically submitted
(read for submission
rule) on or before 23.59 hrs
15th December, 2005, or through courier
(two copies).
Step - 4 : Project shortlisted for
final round
- Project submitted for the final
round shall be declared on
25th December, 2005.
Step - 5 : Final round and result
- The team is required to present
the diffusion plan before the judges
on 21st January, 2006. (read on presentation
rules) and respond to their
queries.
Booty:
- First prize: Rs. 25,000
- Second prize: Rs. 15,000
- Third prize: Rs. 10,000
- Consolations prize Rs. 5,000
- Additional prize*: Rs. 25,000
Each complete proposal to the satisfaction of NIF shall receive Rs 1,000 as reimbursement towards expenditure.

Rules:
General rules:
- All full-time and part-time students
at all levels of education and from
any department or institute are eligible.
- The participant can have team members
from their own or other institutes.
- There can be a maximum of four members.
- The projects should only be taken
from list of project offerings.
- All dateline needs to be strictly
adhered to by the participants.
- Medium of correspondence shall be
in English and Hindi.
- The cost incurred on the development
of plan shall not be reimbursed to
the team.
- Prior to registration for the competition,
each member is required to sign the
Non disclosure agreement, respecting
the intellectual property of the innovator.
- Teams have option to send the two
sets of the diffusion plan through
couriers.
- The team members are required to
enclose a true/scanned copy of student
I-card along with the plan submitted.
- NIF shall be free to use any document/s
or a part of it submitted during or
at the end of the competition.

Registration:
- Each participant can register for
Pratyancha-2005, after accepting the
NDA.
Login ID and password shall be mailed.
- The e-mail id provided by the team
in the registration form will be used
for all communication during the competition.
- Post registration, the participant
can start building the team on their
own or through team
builder.
- Each team will be given a login
id and password using which the team
can access the password enable shared
platform.
- Each team shall have a coordinator,
to be furnished by the team member.
- Initially a team may opt to register
with fewer members (less than four).
Additional members, if any or change
in the team's composition or profile
can be made anytime before 23:59 pm
September 30th, 2005

Project Allocation:
- Teams will choose innovations from
the Project
Offerings provided.
- Since, the number of innovations
to be offered to the teams is limited
and number of participants expected
to be high, all the teams participating
are requested to choose three innovations
in their order of preference from
the list provided under 'project offerings'.
- NIF will allocate one project to
every team from the preference list
given by it on first come first serve
basis. Geographical proximity of the
innovator's place to the location
of institute may also be considered
while allocating project to a team.
NIF decision in this regard shall
be final.

Confirmation:
- Confirmation of project title allocated
to a team should reach Pratyancha
Coordinator within 10 days of project
allocation or by 23:59 hrs on September
30th; 2005, whichever is earlier.
For confirmation log in to our website
on the student id provided to the
team at the time of registration.
- Team composition shall not be allowed
to change after confirmation even
in the case of team having less than
four members.

Non Disclosure Agreement:
- All team members are required to
sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
at the time of their registrations,
honoring Innovators Intellectual property
right.

Protocol for
visit to innovators place:
- Prior to the visit, the team is
required to intimate the competition
coordinator, for the issue of formal
letter to the innovator, informing
him about the visit.
- Prior appointment needs to be taken
with the innovator and other information
provider, taking into consideration
their schedule.
- The team member should explain the
innovator the reason of the visit,
be sensitive to his/her lifestyle,
belief, religious sentiments.
- The team member may have food or
boarding facility only if voluntarily
offered by the innovator. All dues
needs to cleared by the participants
at the end of the visit. National
Innovation Foundation shall not
be responsible towards unpaid expense.
- Any misconduct with the innovator
shall lead to disqualification of
the team. It shall be brought to the
notice of your institute.

Plan submission
rule:
- The plan should be in English, Hindi
or other regional indian language.
- The plan submitted in English, must
be in Times New Roman font with single
spacing.
- Plan should be divided into two
parts; executive summery and the detail
plan.
- The executive summery shall not
exceed 2000 words.
- The plan should be in submitted
in .pdf/.doc file.
- Where the diffusion plan is submitted
in Hindi or other regional language,
you are requested to attach the font.
- Diffusion plan can be submitted
both online as well as through post.

Presentation
rule:
- Travel cost and other overheads
incurred by two team members of the
participating team shall be reimbursed
by NIF. Local hospitality, stay and
food would be taken care of by NIF
at the venue
- Each team shall be assigned 10 minutes
for presentation followed by additional
10 minutes for respond to queries.
- The presentation shall be based
on the plan submitted earlier.
- Team is required to answer queries
to the satisfaction of judges.
- Necessary presentation facilities
such as LCD shall be available at
the venue.

Judging
criteria:
The criteria is not listed on priority
basis, the weightage and applicability
of the criteria shall very from project
to project.
Understanding of the Innovation:
Basic understanding of the innovation,
which includes the technological need-gap
that led to the innovation, benefits (tangible
and intangible) and its econometrics.
Stakeholder analysis: identify
stakeholders at micro and macro level
drawing inter and intra sectoral linkage.
Fundability: the potential for
the venture to receive financial support
from funding agencies / investors.
Social Return on Investment: the
venture's potential to meet its social
goals and social impact. (See explanation
of Social Return on Investment models,
if applicable.)
Integration of the Venture's Social
and Financial Missions: the alignment
of the financial and social goals of the
venture, nonprofit organization and funding
agency.
Innovative approach to Diffusion:
The innovativeness of the diffusion plan,
identifying and understanding stakeholders,
in the process developing innovative intervention
approach.
Replicability in other geographical
area: the holistic approach adopted
in the projects for Replicability in other
geographical area.
Presentation: lucidity and preciseness
of presentation.
