- What kind of innovations have been offered in the project offerings
The innovations offered for the diffusion plan development are those which may not have the potential of widespread commercialization but can enhance social wealth, improve people's lifestyles and facilitate sustainable alternatives for development.
- What kind of knowledge base do I need to have
There is no defined skill set required, it's teamwork with members' collectively required to have an understanding of the innovation and stakeholders both at micro and macro level with their inter and intra sectoral relation.
- Where do I acquaint myself on the social concept
Social concepts cannot be put is nutshells, we have tried to include some of them in our knowledge resources section.
- Do I need to visit rural places for understanding innovation and identify stakeholders
It is highly recommended that the team members visit innovators place for better understanding of the innovation, need-gap that led to the innovation, tangible and intangible benefits and its econometrics.
- I would like to participate, help me identify other team members

- What defines Diffusion plan?
A plan based on empathetic understanding of community needs and propose viable plans for diffusing grassroots technologies that may not have the potential of widespread commercialization but can enhance social wealth, improve people's lifestyles and facilitate sustainable alternatives towards development. In involves a thorough stakeholder analysis and develop practical means to implement the outreach proposition through existing Government institutions, Non Governmental Networks or community social arrangements.

- How big can be my team?
The maximum strength of a team should not exceed four. The team is free to include or change members prior to confirmation. Subsequently no new member can be included. In case the team constitutes less than four members, it needs to be communicated to Pratyancha coordinator.

- What comprises an ideal team?
An ideal team may consist member coming from different educational stream such as social science, engineering, agriculture and management with skill set to work in a team, open to innovative ideas and zeal to work at the same time have a conceptual understanding of the innovation and societal requirement to develop plan towards enhance social wealth, improve people's lifestyles and facilitate sustainable alternatives towards development.

- How do I submit my diffusion plan
On allocation of the projects, each team shall be provided password enabled shared platform for interaction and resource sharing among the team members. This section has option for final submission. Plan can also be submitted through post.
The plans can be in Hindi, English or other regional language .

- What are the steps in the competition?
The competition can be divided into five parts,
- Step -1 : Under stand the competition
- Read the rules, calendar, FAQ and resources.
- Register your team or in absence of a team, link to Team Builder for team building.
- Step -2 : Project allocation, confirmation and plan development
- Submit a list of three innovation in the priority order taking into consider the geographical proximity and logistic requirement.
- On allocation, the team is required to confirm within 10 days
of project allocation or by 23:59 hrs on September 30th; 2005. On confirmation, it is highly recommended that you visit the innovators place (read protocol). On confirmation, it is highly recommended that you visit the innovators place (read protocol).
- The projects should include project deliverables.
- Step - 3 : Project submission
- Project should be electronically submitted (read for submission rule) on or before 23:59 hrs 15th December,2005.
- Step - 4 : Project shortlisted for final round

- Project submitted for the final round shall be declared on 25th December,2005.
- Step - 5 : Final round and result
- The team is required to present the diffusion plan before the panel of judges on 21st January, 2006. (read on presentation rules)

- What kind of protocol is required to be maintained while visiting innovators?
The Protocol to be followed for the visit to innovators place:
- Prior to the visit, the team is required to intimate Pratyancha coordinator, for the issue of formal letter to the innovator, informing him about the visit.
- Prior appointment needs to be taken with the innovator and other information provider, taking into consideration their schedule.
- The team member should explain the innovator the reason of the visit, be sensitive to the lifestyle, belief religious sentiments of the innovator.
- The team member may have food or avail logistical facility only if voluntarily offered by the innovator.

- What shall be the prize money?
The Best plan presentation shall be awarded Rs 25,000, first runner up Rs. 15,000 and second runner up Rs.10,000. In addition, there shall be two consolation prizes of Rs 5000 each. Each complete proposal to the satisfaction of NIF shall receive Rs 1000 as reimbursement towards expenditure.
There is an additional prize of Rs 25,000 for the team that successfully converts its Diffusion plan into reality

- Can I enter other competition and still compete in Pratyancha?
You can enter other competition or take this project as assignment in part completion of your educational degree. Guidelines, criteria and timeline shall not be relaxed in any case.

- How do NIF communicate to the team and its member?
Regular mode of communication shall be e-mail and telecom whenever required and possible. Further each of the team shall be assigned a password enabled shared platform for interaction and resource sharing among the team members.

- Can a new participant join or replace another participant who leaves the competition mid way?
Initially a team may opt to register with fewer members (less than four). Additional members, if any or change in the team's composition or profile could be made before the confirmation of the project. No addition or replacement can be made subsequently. In case a team member drops out due to any reason, rest of the member shall complete the project.

- Do I need to produce a certificate from the institute at any stage of my participation?
Certificate is not required to be submitted in the normal course of the competition. In exceptional cases, NIF reserves the right to request submission of the same.

- Based on which parameters should I select innovation for the projects?
It is advices that innovation be selected taking into consideration area of interest and skill set of the team members, geographical proximity to innovators place and potential or exiting pockets of demand.

- Can an urban diffusion plan be proposed for innovation having existing rural application?
We encourage teams to identify and develop cross-sectoral and cross-regional application and potential users.

Judges will select 10 finalists to proceed to the final round presentation, which will be held on January 21, 2006
