Leadership Positions for Steering Grassroots Innovation Movement
CSIR-NIF Innovation Fellowships

National Innovation Foundation (NIF), based at Ahmedabad, has been constituted as an autonomous registered society in March 2000 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Highly motivated professional who have faith in the potential of innovations at grassroots are needed to make India innovative. 
Applications are invited from initiative-driven and performance-oriented people who can fit into an NGO work culture and are willing to learn, explore and work together with innovators and traditional knowledge holders.

Following positions are open at NIF:
1)  National Coordinator - Intellectual Property Rights (NC-IPR) Apply
Eligibility: At least a  Masters degree in Law/ Agriculture/ Engineering/ Management with knowledge of Intellectual Property Legislation and a minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Location:
Ahmedabad.

Specific responsibilities include but are not confined to:
  • To coordinate with various IP institutions and attorneys to mobilize pro bono or paid help for grassroots innovators to file patents, trademark and other means of IP protection.
  • To pursue with the government authorities the possibility of NIF providing the certificate of inventions accompanied by short to medium term protection so as to reduce transaction costs of the IP offices.
  • To coordinate with WIPO and other international patent offices to secure IP protection for grassroots innovators globally wherever applicable.
  • To help innovators enter into licensing arrangements with entrepreneurs for transferring technologies.

Emoluments: Rs. 25,000 to 35,000 pm consolidated with HRA up to a max. Rs 4,000 with no other allowances.

 
2)  Fellows and Sr. Fellows (Business Development; Editing; Database Management and programming skills in open source CMS and other languages, Linux server maintenance; Communication; Media) Apply
Eligibility: The applicants should be at least postgraduate. Two to three years of work experience in the relevant field would be desirable.

Location:
Ahmedabad.

Specific responsibilities include but are not confined to:
  • Fellows having strong interest in preparing SRS for open source software, ability to troubleshoot and strong hands-on attitude should find the opportunity very challenging. Fellows are required to develop local language interface for synoptic information, organize in a time bound manner the development of databases and should have strong urge to network with public and private sector initiatives in kiosks at community level. Fellows or senior fellows having expertise in Web enabled GIS database should apply if they wish to develop interactive web based knowledge maps with possibility for local communities having access to Internet to interact with each other and collaborate horizontally. The Fellows for dissemination should have strong interest in mass communication, proven ability to write, edit and disseminate information about traditional knowledge and innovations. They should also be able to run NIF newsletter, manage website and provide multimedia content for various applications within and outside NIF. They should also provide support to NIF and Honey Bee collaborators in presenting their work on web and also help local communities access local language public domain knowledge, innovations and practices in multimedia format. They will help in designing and managing a multi media and multi language exhibition on Innovations and traditional knowledge.

Emoluments: Fellows Rs 15,000-20,000 and Sr. Fellows Rs 20,000-30,000 pm consolidated.

General Instructions:
  1. All positions are for a Contractual tenure for one or two year/ and extendable on satisfactory performance.
  2. The positions of Fellows at NIF are purely contractual, created to build capacity among promising professionals to become future leaders of grassroots innovation movement in the country. The fellowship will be considered depending upon the willingness to learn, excel and serve. Experience in general management and coordination, MIS, IT applications in open source, dissemination, mass communication and web publishing, patent registration, licensing technologies, venture capital, fund management, entrepreneurship development, business development, scouting and documenting innovations and traditional knowledge etc. will be considered.
  3. Women candidates/or from SC/ST/OBC categories/handicapped / Ex-servicemen are encouraged to apply.
  4. Employees of Government/Semi Government Departments/ Public Sector Undertaking / Autonomous bodies must apply through proper channel or produce “No Objection Certificate” at the time of the interview.
  5. NIF reserves the right to raise experience level or use other criteria to restrict the number of candidates called for interview.
  6. Deserving candidates may be offered higher start of pay within the specified range.
  7. NIF may recruit professionals through selection or search process
