CSIR-NIF Innovation Fellowships
For supporting Grassroots Innovations and Traditional Knowledge

National Innovation Foundation (NIF), based at Ahmedabad, has been constituted as an autonomous registered society in March 2000 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Highly motivated professionals who have faith in the potential of innovations at grassroots are needed to make India innovative. Work culture at NIF is that of a non-governmental organization and it suits initiative- driven and performance oriented people. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is the apex R&D organization having 38 laboratories working on development of state-of-art technologies in various sectors. CSIR and NIF have entered into MOU to institute the “CSIR-NIF Innovation Fellow” Scheme to provide hand holding support to grassroots innovators and traditional knowledge holders with a view to transform such innovations and knowledge into employment and wealth generating opportunities. Applications are invited for awarding ten fellowships under this scheme. Category-wise eligibility and number of fellowships are given below:

Category B :	Three fellowships for value addition through research (One each in the area of Herbal; Energy; Food processing & Nutraceuticals).
Category C :	One fellowship for market research and business development.
Category D :	Two fellowships (senior level) for database development and annotation, particularly of herbal traditional knowledge and innovations.
Eligibility :	The applicant should have at least a postgraduate degree in science, management or equivalent degree in engineering. Two to three years of work experience in the relevant field would be desirable.

Fellowship : The fellowship may range from Rs. 10,000/- 25,000/- per month and would commensurate with the qualification, experience and aptitude of the candidate. The tenure would be for a maximum of two years, extendable by one year in exceptional cases.
